Hi! I know you come here to find a solution for your acne. But before everything, I want to tell you that you are beautiful!
I know firsthand that acne can be frustrating because I’ve been dealing with acne since middle school. My worst part was when I was in high school, I started to have acne more often (it doesn’t matter if it was my period time or not). But now I know my best acne skincare routine that helps my acne better. I still have one or two when I’m close to my period time, but it’s bearable.
I remember when the first time I had acne, I struggled I didn’t have the confidence to show my face that I needed to put makeup on or cover it with my hair all the time. To make it worse, It is not just on my face but also my back, so I can’t wear something that shows my back. I always envy my friends or anyone that has clear skin. In my head “Why can I have skin like them?”. So If you are anything like, have the same feeling I used to have (your confidence gets crushed by acne), everything will be okay you will overcome this. Remember you are beautiful no matter what, so try to love yourself more.

What I Do To Help My Acne Better
Acne can be persistent and frustrating, but I believe the right skincare can help my skin clearer and healthier. Whether you’re dealing with occasional breakouts or chronic acne, having a consistent and well-thought-out routine can make all the difference. So here I will share exactly what I do to help my acne better.
1. Stop Using Facewash In The Morning
Yep, I stopped using Facewash a while ago in the morning! So I only wash my face with water and then use my morning acne skincare. You probably think it’s weird, but it helps my acne skin better. Not washing my face in the morning with soap means keeping my last night’s layers of skincare to protect the skin from external factors (pollutants, bad bacteria).
2. Exfoliate My Face Regularly
If you haven’t done this, you should! Exfoliating will help to keep pores clear and prevent acne. I usually exfoliate my face once a week every Saturday using glycolic acid toner from The Ordinary. I chose Saturday because I know that day I will be done using makeup (no activity to go out until Monday). So choose whatever day works best for you.
3. Always Apply Everything (Skincare to Makeup) With My Finger
No kidding, back then I always wondered why I always got acne every time I put my makeup on even when I do double cleansing after I’m done. So since then, I’ve been questioning what caused this. In my head “Maybe my makeup brush? Or the makeup is just not for me?”. So if you’ve been thinking the same, I suggest you apply everything with your finger (make sure to wash your hands before). Because it did help my acne to get better, I don’t really get acne as much.
4. Use Moisturizer To Balance My Skin
Believe it or not, using a moisturizer regularly morning and night helps my skin. I have combination skin (oily on the T-zone and dry around the cheek). I always thought using moisturizer would make my face more oily, so I sometimes skip that part. But the truth is, having a good moisturizer helps to protect the skin barrier and prevent the skin from dryness. If you don’t know, dry face can trigger more oil production on the skin and lead to breakouts.
5. Protect Your Skin With Sunscreen
Sunscreen is non-negotiable! Especially when using active ingredients like retinoids for your acne skincare. Using skincare that has active ingredients can make the skin more sensitive to the sun. So the sunscreen job is to protect your skin from UV damage and prevent dark spots and scars. Even when I’m only home (cooking, on the phone, or on my computer) sunscreen is a must.
6. Don’t Pick Your Skin
Are you still doing this? You’ll need to stop this habit. Picking your skin can make acne worse and can cause permanent scarring. Also, picking your skin can force the bacteria deeper into the skin, causing redness, inflammation, and irritation. Not to mention, picking your skin can make your acne heal take longer.
7. Less Is More
Having sensitive skin makes me scared to try too much skincare for my face. So for me, less is always more. Not to mention having too many skincare routines makes me feel defeated because I can’t keep up. So the routine that works for me is to wash my face in the morning – using niacinamide serum – moisturizer – and sunscreen and at night double cleansing (oil cleansing + water cleansing) – facewash – salicylic acid serum – moisturizer.
