Fall-Winter is approaching soon! As much as I like summer, I think I’m done with it because it’s getting too hot here. As I’m typing this, the weather is over 90F outside. By the end of summer, I always like to start switching out my wardrobe from summer to fall and probably shop for something in season. So, If you are anything like me, you will probably already start shopping for clothes (fall/winter outfit ideas) to add to your Fall Winter capsule wardrobe.
I always like to check at thrift stores like Goodwill before I go to brand clothing stores to shop for my clothes, because, for some reason at Goodwill where I live, they always have the good stuff. But, if I can’t find anything I like there, I will go to my favorite store H&M. Those places are my favorite stores to shop for clothes. For me, clothes don’t have to be expensive as long as they are comfortable and suit my style.

Similar Cardigan + T-shirt + Denim Skirt + Similar Balle Flats + Tote Bag
Like this cardigan above, I got them last year from Goodwill, it’s a J.Crew brand. I love it, this is one of my go-to cardigans. I can’t find the exact one, but I linked up a similar cardigan from Amazon.
But remember to declutter your current wardrobe for clothes you no longer wear and don’t suit your style anymore before you start shopping for a new wardrobe. This will give you more space for your new Fall Winter wardrobe.

What To Add To Your Fall-Winter Capsule Wardrobe?

Similar Sweater + Linen Pants + White Sneakers
I got this sweater last year from a thrift store close to my house. Surprisingly, they have a lot of good stuff from branded clothes to bags. This sweater is soft and comfortable, this is my go-to for a comfy lazy day outfit. I linked up a similar sweater with similar material from Amazon above.
I mentioned thrift stores and H&M, but I will give you other places to shop for Fall-Winter capsule wardrobes, such as Amazon, Free People, Abercrombie, and many more.
Fall-Winter Sweaters
A sweater is a must-have in your fall-winter capsule wardrobe! Why? Well because in the cold weather, you will want to keep your body warm while doing your everyday tasks, right? You can also wear them to layer your T-shirt when the weather is not too cold and you don’t feel like wearing a jacket.
Fall-Winter Jackets
The second must-have for a fall-winter wardrobe is a jacket or coat. Sometimes we can’t predict the weather in fall or winter, in the morning the sun can be out, and then later, it can be cloudy and windy. If you are really into fashion and always care about how you look in public, you might want to consider a coat for your fall-winter outer.
Fall-Winter Cardigan
A cardigan is an option. But for me, it’s always nice to have some extra outfit to wear. Especially a cardigan that you can wear all year long. On my list below, I round up some cardigans you wear year-round and some that you can only wear in season.
Fall Winter Turtleneck Shirt
A turtleneck shirt is the 3rd must-have when you build your fall/winter capsule wardrobe. Because there will be a day when the weather is nice (for fall-winter weather) and you don’t feel like wearing heavy clothes, so as an alternative you can wear a turtleneck shirt and layer them with a winter vest to stay warm and comfy for the weather.
Fall-Winter Boots
The fourth fall-winter wardrobe must-have is boots! The thing with boots is they give you an extra layer to keep your body warm. If you are new to boots, you might want to consider getting ankle boots to get used to it.
Fall-Winter Accessories
Fall-winter accessories are optional. But if you want to buy something, I recommend you get gloves, a hat, and a scarf. Those three are the most worn for fall-winter weather. If you are on your phone a lot, you will need gloves that provide a smart touch-screen so you don’t have to take off your gloves when you need to use your phone.
The list above is my top recommendations if you want to start building your fall-winter capsule wardrobe. You don’t have to buy everything all at once, as it could get pretty expensive. My way to save money to shop for clothes is, to buy them when they are not in season. Meaning, if you want to start building your fall-winter capsule wardrobe, summer is the right time to start.
What do you think I should add to my fall-winter capsule wardrobe? Do you have any must-have clothing items for your cold-weather wardrobe? For me, sweaters, coats, turtlenecks, and boots are must-haves, anything else is just extra. But if you are on a budget, I would say sweater, jacket, and boots are essentials.
Until next time,
