If you’re going on an international trip, you’re probably working on a packing list of travel essentials to prepare for your long flight! Spending long hours in the air will be more enjoyable when you are prepared. So I’d love to share my ultimate packing list of the best things to bring on the plane.
Travel Essentials For A Long Flight
Long flights are generally pretty tough, especially if you have to fly with kids. I still remember the day when our family flew back to visit my home country in Indonesia, it was exhausting. Cause we have to sit on the economy chair for a total of 24 hours with my 3-year-old. But we still enjoyed the moment (we were pretty much prepared). Cause it will be my daughter’s first time seeing my family in Indonesia.
Packing For A Long Flight
I was once the one who always packed early and then ended up overpacking, so I’ve learned about traveling light! Before that, I always convinced myself I would get dressed up and make my outfit a moment. But a lot of time, I end up wearing casual outfits like jeans and T-shirts. So if you’re planning on traveling soon, I will share some of the outfits I brought when I visit my Indonesian family for 3 weeks.

When Planning Your Next Trip
Make a travel checklist of the things you want to bring and check things off as you pack them. I like to plan for things, so I love checklists but more than that I love being prepared. Long flights are no joke, especially with kids. I also love to bring the best travel kit with the best snacks and the coziest blanket and sweatshirt
Nothing Feels Better Than Being Prepared
Dry lips or hands due to recirculating air on the plane? I’m certainly prepared with lip balm and hand lotion. You probably will find yourself bored or hungry sitting on the plane for too long, so snacks and entertainment are important! Also if you are a heavy sleeper, a travel pillow is a must-have.
Baggage
Having baggage or some people call it luggage is a must-have for travel! Cause you don’t want to carry all of your belongings on your shoulders. So having baggage with 4 spinner wheels is essential for travel. With 4 wheel spinner, will make it easier for you to glide your baggage through the airport.
Carry-On Suitcase
Given you like easy access when you want to reach your travel essentials, you’ll surely need a carry-on! Remember that everyone can bring one carry-on and one personal item. So it’s always a good idea to put your travel essentials in your carry-on suitcase. Additionally, I like to put an extra pair of clothes and medication, travel documents, or anything else I can’t live without in there.
Weekend Bag
If you’re carrying a laptop and a lot of essentials, adding a weekender bag or tote bag is always the best. I usually like to put my tote bag on top of the carry-on suitcase and glide it through the airport. So instead of carrying multiple bags, I like to keep my travel essentials (passport, wallet, snacks, phone, iPad, laptop) in one bag. I always like to bring a bag that slides onto my spinner’s handle. Additionally, you can put the weekender bag under your seat for easy access
Knick – Knack Bag
Another bag that you will want to add to your travel essentials is a knick-knack bag. This bag (or a pouch) separates your small belongings, such as toiletries, electronics, snacks, makeup, and medicine. Cause you don’t want to mix them up with all your clothes. A Knick-knack bag will give you easy access to the things you need.
Portable Charger & Converter
Because your phone or other electronic gadgets can die anytime, having a portable charger and converter is essential for travel. Most countries do not have the same type of outlet as the United States. So you need to bring the converter to be able to use your charger or other electronic belongings.
Refillable Water Bottle
It is important to keep our body to stay hydrated wherever we go! A refillable bottle or better yet a collapsible one, will help you stay hydrated for your long flight.
Entertainment
To keep myself entertained during our long flight, I like to carry an iPad, laptop, book, and headphones to work on blog posts or watch movies. This generally makes my time go by faster. If you don’t feel like bringing extra gear, your iPhone, headphones, and portable charger work too.
Most international flights have TVs with decent movie selections, so you don’t need to worry about not being able to entertain yourself.
